There is always something special in the air at the Royal Norfolk Show - be it the smell of the countryside (!), the meeting up with old friends, the bowler hats or the glorious sunshine - it is Norfolk's very own Glastonbury, just with less music and more Pimms.
The Langley tent is always alive with music, delicious food (they outdid themselves this year, again!) and hot Icenian gossip - this was another vintage year.
With representatives from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, and 20s popping in (I counted 103 in total), it was a wonderful sight to see past students come back to hear about what they school is like today and who, if anyone, is still teaching from their era (Yes, Mr Sullivan is still at the school!).
Please find a selection of photos here from the show - email jkempton@langleyschool.co.uk if you have any more.
Had a lovely chat with some old boys from the 60s/70s - also drop me a line if you are 1969-1974 vintage, would love to organise an Icenian lunch at an Icenian Pub - https://www.salhouselodge.co.uk/about run by the Colchesters (three generations of Icenians!)
I hope to see you all at the Icenian Afternoon on 6th July, from 1pm. There will be more Icenian moments to recall, remember and create, I am sure.
See you all in 2025 (if not before) for the next Norfolk Show!
