It’s never easy to write a tribute for someone, even in the best of times. In these circumstances, finding the right words feels almost impossible — but I’ll try.
I first met Kyle when we both joined Langley Preparatory School at the age of four, and we quickly became close friends. We were alike in almost every way, except for one: football teams. His love and passion for Manchester United, passed down from his dad, Kevin, was something I simply couldn’t get on board with. For that reason, I remain forever grateful that I was nudged toward supporting Chelsea instead.
Kyle always had a smile on his face, and his personality was utterly infectious. No matter the time or day, you knew he’d be somewhere smiling, bringing instant happiness to everyone around him. I was one of the fortunate few who had the privilege of being by his side from Reception all the way through to Year 11 at Langley School — something I will always be grateful for. Some of my fondest memories are of us playing football and rugby for the school, where we shared plenty of success over the years. Kyle was the ultimate team player, both on and off the pitch. That quality truly epitomised who he was: someone who excelled when surrounded by others, and a person who showed, time and again, just how much of a people person he really was.
At times like this, the pain that Kyle’s family and friends are enduring is unimaginable. No amount of kind words or tributes can ease that hurt, but I hope that, in time, they can take some comfort in the enormous outpouring of love and remembrance he has inspired.
To Kevin and Tracy — you should be incredibly proud of the man you raised. Kyle was one of the kindest and most genuine people you could ever hope to meet, and that is a true testament to the upbringing you gave him.
And finally, to Kyle: wherever you are, keep smiling, and thank you for everything. Your time here was far too short, but the impact you made will last a lifetime.
Thankyou to Charles Ball for the words, we all share the sentiment. A delighful young man, taken too young.
