JK's intro to the Newsletter!

Dear Icenians,

As we approach the close of another busy and rewarding term, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. Your generosity of time and spirit has been evident in so many ways—through Working Lunches, Mock Interviews, guidance for our students, offers of assistance, and your presence at the Rugby Festival during Half Term. These contributions make a profound difference, and they remind us of the strength and warmth of the Langley community.

It is always a privilege to wear the Icenian Pin and to share conversations with Old Boys and Girls about their days at Langley and the journeys they have taken since. These stories inspire us and connect past and present in a way that is truly special. Looking ahead, I hope that 2026 will be a wonderful year for the Society—a year of fellowship, opportunity, and continued support for future generations.

Please know that Langley will always welcome you, provide connection and support where it can and share your successes and stories. Whether you want to come in to the school for a visit, to share memorabilia found in the loft or cellar, to offer guidance to the students who follow on your path, or to contribute to bursaries and scholarships, providing pathways for future Icenians – we will offer you a warm reception in these hallowed halls. These acts of kindness help ensure that the Langley experience remains accessible and enriching for all. Be it a visit to your workplace, the offer of some work experience or the funding of The Anthony Arthur Coward Scholarship, you all stand as a shining example of how generosity can shape the lives of future students.

I am deeply aware that these are challenging times for many, yet your continued support reminds us that goodness and generosity endure.

We hope you enjoy the Michaelmas newsletter and that you can see that we are trying to tailor these pieces based on the ‘Have your Say’ Survey we sent out earlier in the year.

With warm regards and every good wish,

Perseverando,

Jon Kempton
